Excalibur Exhibits joins forces with Bear Hugs With Love to help children displaced by Hurrican Katrina

HOUSTON (February 10, 2008) - Today Excalibur Exhibits, a long time supporter of Bear Hugs With Love, reaffirmed its commitment to the charity by sponsoring a free family picnic in Gretna, Louisiana. The picnic provided more than 300 families displaced by Hurricane Katrina with a BBQlunch, fun activities, and children received a free stuffed animal from Bear Hugs With Love.

The Bear Hugs With Love national teddy bear drive began soon after the hurricane hit in 2005 and more than 2,000 teddy bears have been collected from 15 states and donated to young victims in Memphis, San Antonio, Houston, and now Gretna.

"Even two years later, many of the smallest victims of the hurricane still do not know what tomorrow will hold," said Kelly Swords co-founder of Bears Hugs With Love. "A teddy bear is a new friend, a security object, and a sign of hope to come. Our hope is that these teddy bears will help children displaced by the hurricane feel safe and loved at night."

Excalibur Exhibits supplied the warehouse space to collect the bears. Omni Logistics donated the transportation from Houston to New Orleans and the New Orleans office of Nth Degree provided local reception and delivery to Gretna. Peggy Rehm Swords (former New Orleans resident, LSU graduate and mother of Bears Hugs With Love co-founder Kelly Swords) and Dan Swords donated t-shirts which were also distributed at the picnic.
