The 2015 Offshore Technology Conference in Houston is less than four months away. So if you haven’t already started planning for the event, now’s the time. But don’t let the timeline stress you. Excalibur Exhibits is a full-service exhibit house and we’ve been known to work miracles – even a custom OTC exhibit – in a short time frame.
A few years back, our client Prysmian Group, the world leader in the energy and telecommunication cables and systems industry, was interested in exhibiting at the 2012 OTC. The company, created through a recent merger of Prysmian and Draka, was in the midst of a full rebranding (including a new logo) and there was with only six weeks left until the start of OTC. Further adding to the challenge, Prysmian was located in Milan, Italy, more than 5,000 miles away from Houston.
Adhering to a client’s branding standards is always a top priority for us, so we were in a pinch when we didn’t receive the company’s new global design guidelines from their agency in Milan until about three weeks before the start of OTC. However, the design guidelines didn’t address a planned two-story, 20-foot by 40-foot exhibit and an ingress/egress for the second story did not meet the Houston Fire Code.
It was a challenge to say the least, but we rose to it! Our talented design team and project managers wasted no time developing a solid plan. It helped that we are highly experienced in working with international clients, as we knew to adjust our working hours and utilize virtual meetings in order to more efficiently work with the Prysmian Group’s Milan office.
Even though we were short on time, we weren’t short on options. We presented Prysmian with several two-story environments that included multiple stair options and cleverly utilized the available space. Our solution prominently featured Prysmian’s new logo and strictly adhered to the recently developed branding standards. Well-versed in exhibition safety standards, Excalibur ensured the new configuration met all applicable U.S. fire codes.
Once the design was approved, our in-house manufacturing team went to work to create a finished booth that brought to life Prysmian’s European design in a way that adhered to U.S. standards. Excalibur delivered Prysmian’s exhibit on time before the show opened and oversaw installation to safeguard that everything went smoothly.
Prysmian Group was ecstatic with our speed, flexibility, creativeness, safety knowledge and ability to present a consistent brand and message on an international scale.
Our innovative design drew much needed attention to Prysmian Group and helped introduce the new entity to their target market. Prysmian’s exhibit experienced extremely high traffic and was effective at increasing awareness of the company’s products, which ultimately added to their bottom line.
