Peggy Swords, President

How long have you worked for Excalibur?
Unofficially, since the idea first started bouncing around in my head. Officially, when I opened the doors in January 1997.

What are you known for professionally? What do you have a knack for?

Attention to detail and large-scale custom exhibits. Spotting the one place where a minor change or addition will set a client apart from the competition.

What’s the one problem you are best at solving for your clients?
Editing the design during the first few drafts. Although I could never design an exhibit from scratch, I am great at editing what our designers come up with to add functionality and zip.

What do your ideal clients say about you?
I'm a stickler for detail with a large reservoir of knowledge that I’m prone to impart freely when asked.

What are you most passionate about professionally? What most excites you about your work and the contribution you can make?
Developing our employees to feel empowered and responsive to clients.

What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
Summertime in Snowmass. Who doesn't love hitting the golf ball longer in the 8,000 foot elevation? The fresh air relaxes me like nowhere else.

What would be impossible for you to give up?
Working with my employees to see them grow as individuals and employees, and to see the company grow in our level of offerings and sophistication. It has been a challenge after starting from scratch, but the most satisfying feeling is to look back on the past 16 years and see how far we have come.

Where can we find you when you’re not working? What’s your favorite way to spend a weekend or a Sunday afternoon?
Hopefully on a golf course somewhere either in Houston or a picturesque resort and playing with Miller, my yellow Lab (and unofficial Excalibur mascot).
